Our Meetings
September Kickoff Meeting 9/13/24
This was the Kickoff meeting of SFHS Chess Club in 2024. Having to host it outside made it no less fun, we played normal and four player chess! Brad's provided donuts made the first meeting even sweeter! We had about 20 people in attendance.
Second Meeting 10/14/24
Our second meeting was luckier with location - this time a classroom! We discussed the Chess Olympics results, where India crushed. We also had a comprehensive lesson on calculation in chess. It was a very lively and fun meeting with everyone involved and we had 16 people in attendance!
Third Meeting 11/11/24
Our Third meeting set an attendance record with 29 people present! We discussed the resent US Chess Championship, Carissa Yip's 8/8 run and Christopher Yoo drama. We also studied some positional chess and overall had a very fun time!
Fourth Meeting 12/09/24
Our Fourth meeting was the most fun meeting we had yet! We discussed the World Championship and its history. We studied a game from the world championship, announced volunteering opportunities and Try-out dates! In the second half we played "Team Chess" in teams of five people, and the "Sigma Boys" won! We had 19 people in attendance.
Volunteering Meeting 1/8/25
We welcomed 2025 by meeting with the President and a director of the Georgia Chess Association to discuss volunteering. We had about 6 people in in-person attendance, and successfully discussed moving forward with volunteering!

Fifth Meeting 1/27/25
This was the first monthly meeting of the Chess Club in 2025. We discussed the World Rapid & Blitz Championship, as well as drama with Jeans, Carlsen and double-winner around it. It was a shorter meeting because not many people came due to early-semseter-busyness. We unfortunately do not have media of the meeting.

Team Try-outs
3/4/25
On the first Tuesday of February 2025 we hosted team try outs for the 5th spot on the team! Anirudh Shome came first in an elimination bracket of 8 players!
Sixth Meeting
3/12/25
This was the second monthly meeting of the Chess Club in 2025. We discussed our K-12 qualifier performance, Freestyle chess drama and learned to play Chess 960 (Fischer random)! We also announced officer applications, and planned for the future of the club. It was a great meeting with about 15 people in attendance (only took one picture though :( )
